Outsourcing or hiring? (A spreadsheet for modelling an answer)

Employee or contractor?

For those looking at your talent solutions for 2018, you may be considering your options outside of hiring a full-time employee. One option is outsourcing or getting back-up from contractors, consultants or retained advisers.

We’ve come up with a spreadsheet that sets out a simplified monetary and capacity calculation to help with the decision. You can view it here.

Of course, there are a number of other considerations relevant to your decision including qualitative considerations that aren’t easily reduced to a spreadsheet.

Retainer counsel

We have given some thought to this in the context of how our retainer counsel solutions may fit into a broader business. We’ve previously written about our retainer counsel solutions including here on:

The most active cross-border lawyers around

The spreadsheet is a work in progress. Also, it has been prepared by lawyers, which means there are likely to be errors you’d expect from people who don’t do maths often. Further, it doesn’t even include legal analysis!

If you’d like a copy of the spreadsheet so that you may plug in your own numbers or if you’d like to see how the numbers stack up for our retainer counsel service, please give us some details about you here.
